From Our Counselors: Connecting with Your Child
Mother and Daughter

Looking for new ways to connect with your child about their school day, emotions, and strengths? Here are three simple and engaging activities to try at home:

  • Question Jar: Write down fun and thought-provoking questions on slips of paper and place them in a jar. Take turns drawing a question at dinner or bedtime to spark meaningful conversations.
  • Feelings Wheel: Use a visual feelings wheel to help your child identify and express their emotions. This tool encourages open discussions about how they’re feeling and why.
  • Accomplishment Box: Decorate a small box together and encourage your child to add notes about their daily achievements—big or small. Reflecting on their successes builds confidence and resilience.

These activities create opportunities for deeper connection and help children feel seen, heard, and valued. Try them out and enjoy the conversations that follow! Explore the Activity Kit.
